Supan Prosthetic Orthotic Consultations is dedicated to enhancing the lives of persons with physical disabilities by the improvement of orthotic and prosthetic care. This is accomplished through Expert Witness Consultations in the areas of fraud & abuse, malpractice litigation, prosthetic & orthotic records review & plaintiff/defendant testimony; Facility Consultations in the areas of accreditation & compliance, lab safety, staff/resident education; and Licensure Consultations for the development of state licensure practice acts for orthotics, prosthetics and pedorthics.
Terry J. Supan is President and CEO of Supan Prosthetic Orthotic Consultations. He is a Clinical Professor (Retired) at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and a former Chair of the Illinois Orthotic, Prosthetic and Pedorthic Licensure Board. He was a licensed and board certified orthotist and prosthetist that specialized in upper limb amputations, cerebral palsy, scoliosis, polio, stroke, and other rehabilitation for persons with physical disabilities. He is an internationally known speaker in those areas as well as lower limb prosthetics; biomechanics/gait analysis; prosthetic/orthotic education; state O&P practice acts; and governmental regulations.
On March 22nd, 2012 was honored to received the Titus-Ferguson Lifetime Achievement Award at the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP) Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium for his accomplishments and contributions that have made a significant impact on the Orthotic & Prosthetic profession. Previously on February 26th, 2004 Mr. Supan received the Academy’s 2004 Distinguish Practitioner of the Year Award. Mr. Supan is a former president of both the AAOP, and the Midwest Chapter – AAOP, and he is a Chair Emeritus of the US National Member Society of the International Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO). On June 5th, 2004 the Midwest Chapter presented Mr. Supan with the Loren Jeuett Award recognizing his “selfless dedication to furthering the mission of the Midwest Chapter”.
Mr. Supan is a Fellow Emeritus of both the AAOP and the ISPO. He has previously served on the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC), the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), National Commission on Orthotic & Prosthetic Education (NCOPE), and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). In June of 2015, he was appointed to the International Society for Prosthetics & Orthotics’ Executive Board and served as Treasurer of ISPO until October of 2019.
